Once I completed the pieces in my studio, it was time to install them in the theme room.
I started by painting in the background murals for each character. This step took me a couple of days to complete and was done in acrylics only.
The characters at this point have now been cut from their original masonite boards at a separate location to minimize the dust.
Buzz Lightyear to the RESCUE!
Room background murals completed it was time to mount the characters in their appropriate positions.
This was done by locating points on the characters where we could locate and hide the mounting screws.
We also had to make sure that the spots where the characters were placed were close to a beam to be able to go into the wood and not just the drywall.
Sponge Bob Square Pants and his pal Patrick!
Here’s Spiderman mounted with webbing. In the original layout of the room the webs are coming down from the bunk bed where the ladder is located in this picture.
Afterwards I went in and added all the final detailing like the green spots in Spiderman’s web and painting over of all the mounting screws.
Are your spider senses ‘tingling’?
The pictures in this post are the final shots of the room and the cartoon/comicbook themed room is finished.
As you can see there is a desk ‘cave’ area where the books are kept and a curtain for a little more privacy.
…Here comes the HULK!
